The largest magnitude eigenvalues of Mandelbrot matrices
Rob Corless, University of Western Ontario

Abstract: At Jonfest Down Under, I presented work by Piers Lawrence and myself on eigenvalues of Mandelbrot matrices. Some of you may remember a JLM poster with some of those results, given the year before I went on sabbatical. At the conference, Neil Calkin (who himself gave a talk on a somewhat similar family of matrices) asked about the largest magnitude eigenvalue. The answer to that question, which involved the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences---but could have involved gfun---is the subject of this talk.
