Friday, Sept, 14, 2012 , at University of Western Ontario The largest magnitude eigenvalues of Mandelbrot matrices Rob Corless, University of Western Ontario Abstract: At Jonfest Down Under, I presented work by Piers Lawrence and myself on eigenvalues of Mandelbrot matrices. Some of you may remember a JLM poster with some of those results, given the year before I went on sabbatical. At the conference, Neil Calkin (who himself gave a talk on a somewhat similar family of matrices) asked about the largest magnitude eigenvalue. The answer to that question, which involved the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequencesbut could have involved gfunis the subject of this talk.
