Abstract:

We will have a closer look at why physical modeling is the next killer app for symbolic computing, take a tour of what is involved in simulating a physical system given by equations and discuss some open issues. This talk will also include a demo of MapleSim, a modeling and simulation environment which uses symbolic computation extensively.
